What to consider when moving out of state?
I'm moving from Louisiana to Houston.
Rented a U-haul.
However, I need to know how to disassemble a queen size bed and how to protect a huge dresser with a mirror in the u-haul.
Can anyone help??
You can rent moving pads from U-Haul to wrap around furniture. These are made especially for that purpose and provide excellent protection for furniture. however, with fragile items it would be advisable to use cardboard. You can purchase a mirror/picture box for the mirror or corrugated cardboard for other items to wrap around (or just open a regular box). It's better to wrap the box around a pad if you're not using corrugate (thinner cardboard with inner bubble wrap) or mirror/picture box.
Also, get a couple of straps to secure your furniture so they won't move around at the back; there are places in the truck to attach them to.
As for the bed, most of them have a bed frame that it held together with screws (including the headboard and footboard, if you have those). If yours is different, you can call the store/manufacturer for specifics.
