What is this kind of soil / land called?
When I was a kid, we used to play in this strange place in town where the ground was like memory foam. The ground was dry, but it gave just like memory foam and your footprints would disappear after awhile. It was scary to walk on because it felt as though the ground were hollow underneath and you could fall through. Is there a name for this kind of earth?
I checked the dictionary and found a lot of things that were slightly similar but just didn't fit. NOT: muck, mire, bog, marsh, tarn, quicksand. {I live in northern Indiana, USA, if that helps you any.}
It sounds like a very fine loam soil. Very rich in organic materials so it gave way, not too much clays or it ould have been hard as a rick while dry, and not sandy because you could brush that away.
I wish my "dirt" was like that - I have clay
